Selling out a VIP show in under 2 seconds

Nolte teamed up with MassAppeal & HBO to create a web application that handled the promotion and distribution of a private VIP concert.

Overview

The Mass Appeal team worked alongside HBO to plan the J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming premiere. As a portion of the project, Mass Appeal needed a digital product to handle the registration, promotion, and ticket distribution for the application.

The Challenge

The Nolte team needed to create a digital product that was accessible across all modern devices, operating systems, and browsers. This product needed to handle very large amounts of traffic as the campaign would run on a global scale with owned, earned, and paid media promotion. In addition, it needed to provide geolocation detection and real-time response to users.

The Journey

The entire product development process - i.e. strategy, user experience, visual design, development, and QA - took about one month. We held daily stand-ups and delivered regular, project status updates all the way up to launch.

Discovery & Strategy

We worked to deliver several concepts that helped drive awareness for the concert film and J.Cole’s personal brand prepromotion. In the end we incorporated an interactive countdown clock to drive excitement and anticipation for the product launch.

The Solution

Through all stages, our team delivered a web application that incorporated features such as data capture, real-time ticket confirmation, and distribution to three private event locations.

The Implementation

The Nolte team worked with HBO system administrators to deliver a PHP application fully tested and deployed into HBO’s infrastructure. The application was load-tested for national campaign traffic at database, server, and client layer.

Project stats

The overall project was a success and facilitated the ticket distribution, confirmation, and on-site validation. The HBO special aired January 9th, 2015.
